Harry Potter !!

Over winter break, for some reason, I really wanted to watch the Harry Potter movies. After I watched the first one, I told myself, wow that was really good let's watch the next one. This process continued all the way until I finished all the movies. After the movies, I fell in love with the Harry Potter series and began to read the books. At the moment, I'm reading the first book of the series. Usually, I try to read the books then watch the movies because I like comparing the movies to the books. Typically, the film doesn't include important or small details from the book. It makes me very sad when the movies change the plot. Right now, in Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone , Harry and all of the other first years are being placed in their houses. To be placed, the student must put on the sorting hat. Analyze a Song

I am going to analyze  I Must Belong Somewhere" by Bright Eyes because I could not think of a song to analyze, so I chose a song that Dr.D gave us.  Lyrics The major techniques that are being used are anaphora, personification, and cacophony.  To start, Anaphora is used all throughout the song. "Leave..." is repeated consecutively to emphasize leaving and forgetting about that part of your life. Anaphora also creates a rhythm in that the reader will know the beginning of the next lyric and that it is pleasing to read/sing/listen to.   In verse, " Leave the sad guitar in its hard-shell case," personification is used in this example to represent how nobody plays that guitar, so it is sad or to show how dreary that place is so you need to leave. Another example is " In truth, the forest hears each sound". This example of personification, the forest is being compared to a person saying that the forest can hear noises. "Haunted" by Naomi Shihab Nye : A Response

The poem that I am responding to is Haunted by Naomi Shihab Nye. I found this poem to be very profound. The poem starts off by trying to find a person's laugh, and I interpreted this as their happiness or their normal self. I feel as if the person trying to find the other person's happiness is looking very desperately and everywhere. From under the trees to on the porch. When I was reading this poem, for some reason, I imagined myself in an open field. In the distance, I could hear people talking and looking for something or someone. I had no clue where the noise came from so I just stood there. I stood there for days. Days became weeks, and weeks become months. I feel like while everyone else lives were happening, I was stuck in the middle of no where. I was very intrigued by the first sentence. " We are looking for your laugh." This sentence gave me a summary of what is to come. I also feel like the word choice made this poem a little sad . Words like "dro...
