Analyze a Song

I am going to analyze  I Must Belong Somewhere" by Bright Eyes because I could not think of a song to analyze, so I chose a song that Dr.D gave us.  Lyrics The major techniques that are being used are anaphora, personification, and cacophony.  To start, Anaphora is used all throughout the song. "Leave..." is repeated consecutively to emphasize leaving and forgetting about that part of your life. Anaphora also creates a rhythm in that the reader will know the beginning of the next lyric and that it is pleasing to read/sing/listen to.   In verse, " Leave the sad guitar in its hard-shell case," personification is used in this example to represent how nobody plays that guitar, so it is sad or to show how dreary that place is so you need to leave. Gregory: Describe what utopia looks like and why. A utopia means a perfect location where I can be the most happy and have the most fun. Using this definition, a utopia would have to have a beach. The beach is my favorite place in the entire world. I love the soft, white sand touching my feet as I walk. Sand is so calming. It just falls out of your hand. Although, at times sand can be aggravating like when my feet are wet, but I don't really care. My favorite part about the beach is sitting in my beach chair with the umbrella up and reading any book. The sound of the ocean is so calming and I forget about everything in my life and I concentrate on the waves. Also, I enjoy swimming in the water. The animals do not scare me the much but I know as long as I do not get near them ,they will not hurt me.  A utopia would also have to have sunny weather and also rainy weather. Finally Finished The Catcher in the Rye !!!!

This week's reading response is going to be devoted to the hilarious book, The Catcher in the Rye.  If you haven't already, go read my previous blog post about this book. I will attempt to add on to the previous response without being too  repetitive. This button is hilarious to me. Now, if you haven't read The Catcher in the Rye, I understand why you aren't laughing with me. Holden calls just about everyone and thing he sees a "phony".  He uses this word all throughout the book and is how he views insincere people. The reason because like his classmates at Pencey Prep, they all just care about how they look and looking good than doing or saying anything honest. Boy, does this aggravate Holden (notice the use of Boy, Holden uses this word very often in the book too, and he even mentions in it the first chapter!).  Holden just wants to stay young and innocent. The child world isn't filled with "phonies" as in the adult world. Also, its worth...
